RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday issued instructions to Palestinian embassies around the world to change all references to the Palestinian Authority to State of Palestine after the UN vote in November.

Palestine was voted in as a non-member state by the UN General Assembly on Nov. 29, 2012.

No amendment should be made to references to the PLO, which remains Palestinians' legal representative on the world stage, the presidential order said.

Why not "The State of Palestine"? Are we repeating the mistake on the UNSC resolution 242, which says 'territories' and not 'the territories'?

#1 "Are we repeating the mistake on the UNSC resolution 242, which says 'territories' and not 'the territories'?" Don't think so. The controversy about wording in 242 is interesting but don't State of Palestine and THE State of Palestine mean the same thing? United States of America. THE United States of America. Can't see the difference. "...territories" can mean some or part of "THE territories", but "THE territories" means ALL of them. "State of Palestine" can't really mean part or some of

(contd.) "THE state of Palestine"...but interesting all the same.

It does not matter how it is called - it does not exist anyhow. Palestinian state never existed in the history, it does not exist now regardless how many times Abbas or Arafat pronounce it or how many times his burocrats write it on the "official" papers or how many resolutions issued by UN . And it will not exist probably ever if Abbas insist on his current unilateral policy of UN advances. All those words do not change a little thing in reality or on the ground.

- Definitely more than "138 countries also disagree with" Hamas,
regarding it's use of terror to achieve political goals, and
- Definitely more than "138 countries also disagree with" Iran,
regarding it's nuclear weapons development programs,
but both both the terror and the nuclear weapons development continues,
- so realistically as Around-4 writes, Abbas' "words will NOT change a little thing in reality, or on the ground," where it really counts, regarding Israeli policies !!!

Is it wise for illegal aliens from Israel to invest so heavily in the State of Palestine? Shouldn't they at least determine their legal status by referencing the legal questions to the ICJ? Chutzpah is not legal entitlement and hasbara is not legal opinion. If might equalled right, a country like America could start numerous wars in numerous places with complete justification. What chaos that would lead to!

To Around #4 'It does not matter how it is called - it does not exist anyhow. Palestinian state never existed in the history...' I wouldn't push that if I were you. If you do -- there goes the argument for Israel.
