GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Fatah and Hamas representatives met in Gaza on Saturday evening to discuss the long-stalled reconciliation process between their parties.
Fatah delegates Nabil Shaath, Ahmad Nasser and Atef Abu Yousef met with Hamas figures Khalil al-Hayeh and Rawhi Moshtahi, Abu Yousef told Ma'an.
He said the parties wanted to take advantage of the good will between them, after both held anniversary celebrations in the territories controlled by the rival party.
"We must build on these meetings ... otherwise everyone will lose," he said.
Fatah held its first major political event in the Gaza Strip on Friday, after Hamas was also permitted to hold West Bank rallies for its anniversary in December.
The parties split Palestine into separate West Bank and Gaza governments in 2007, amid violent infighting.
