NABLUS (Ma'an) -- The West Bank was hit by flooding and lightning overnight Sunday, causing extensive damage to residential properties.

Lightning struck 19 homes in Nablus overnight, local resident Mahir al-Juneidi told Ma'an, causing serious damage to electrical circuits and the exterior of several homes.

No injuries were reported.

Heavy rainfall also caused flooding, as stormy weather continued into Monday.

Rescue teams in Tulkarem were to dispatched to 14 emergency cases in the city, with homes flooded and vehicles stuck due to excess rainwater.

In East Jerusalem, worshipers at Al-Aqsa mosque arrived on Monday to find four large trees damaged by the storm. Two other trees were uprooted.

Rainfall over the last 48 hours has flooded large tracts of land in Qalqiliya, with agricultural land and residential properties ruined by the water build-up, farmers said.
