GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- An Islamic Jihad official said President Mahmoud Abbas will meet the group's leader during his visit to Cairo as part of unity talks on Wednesday.
Abbas will meet with Egyptian President Muhammad Mursi and Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in separate talks on Wednesday.
Khaled al-Batash said the president will also meet Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ramadan Shalah in Cairo to discuss reconciliation.
They will also address latest developments in Israeli settlement activities, and the "Israeli threats against the Palestinian people after Gaza`s victory," he said.
Shalah canceled a proposed trip to Gaza with Mashaal in December, when Egypt warned that Israel would not guarantee not to assassinate him.
The Jihad leader was a party to the truce agreement which ended eight days of fighting in Gaza in November, which included commitments to cease hostilities on both sides.
