GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Over a hundred people needed medical treatment in southern Gaza on Wednesday due to severe weather conditions, the rescue service said.

Emergency services treated 100 people on site during flooding near Rafah, and five people have been hospitalized, Muhammad Mathana, spokesman of Gaza's Civil Defense service, told Ma'an.

The crews have also extracted 17 cars stuck in floods, and removed 25 felled trees, he said.

I was in Ramallah/Birzeit area in early November when the rains started. I was amazed at the lack of storm drains on public streets. I saw high curbs and water streaming down the incline of the street with nowhere to go other than people's driveways and private property....Bad street designs. Dry wells should be installed to alleviate such sudden run off.
