GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Four children were seriously wounded in a house fire late Thursday in the Gaza Strip, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesman of Gaza's health ministry, told Ma'an that four relatives from the al-Far family were injured in the blaze, with one in a critical condition.

The fire was caused by candles the family had lit during an electricity blackout in Jabalia refugee camp.

Sakher al-Far, 7, Jumana al-Far, 8 and Masra, 13, were named as those injured, with Muhammad al-Far, 10, said to be in a critical condition.

In September 2012, at least 500 protesters in the Gaza Strip called for the overthrow of the ruling Hamas government in a rare demonstration triggered by the death of a three-year-old boy in a fire during a power outage.
