Lawyer: Woman detained with baby to face court

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A 31-year-old Palestinian woman who was arrested with her baby by Israeli forces in south Hebron on Saturday is set to face a charge of assaulting officers, her lawyer said Monday.

Rima Ismail Awad, from al-Deirat, was released on bail on Sunday morning but is under suspicion of aggression towards soldiers and police, lawyer Neri Ramati said.

On Saturday, activists and locals gathered to cultivate their land in the south Hebron hills, which lies close to a settler outpost. At least 14 people were arrested by Israeli forces, who said they were enforcing a closed military zone imposed after a protest the day earlier.

An activist at the scene captured footage of the detention of Rima and her 18-month-old child.

The baby was released Saturday evening.

Aggression towards soldiers? Assaulting officers? With 3-4 IOF soldiers pinning her to the bonnet of a vehicle, one arm forced up her back and the other holding a baby - what did she do, headbutt them??? If this is what they do to Palestinian women and babies when there are cameras around, it doesn't bear thinking about what happens when there are no cameras...

Tut tut, Robbo - bullsh---ing again. The article states that they gathered to cultivate their land, but IOF prevented them from doing so & had declared it a "CMZ" (which means IOF want it for Jewish squatters). Take note of the video - there are family members of all ages present - it's how Palestinian families work their land - together as a family. BTW you will know this: if they don't keep it cultivated, it's Israel's excuse to confiscate it. So we know why Israel is too ready with "CMZ"

Raymond- maybe your reading comprehension need some work- look at the LAST paragraph "to cultivate their land" I hardly think tending your land is grandstanding. Then again - maybe to an Israeli it is. God knows how you love to manipulate anything Palestinian

Technically, I suppose fourteen months would mark Israel's youngest arrest ever -- although not her youngest victim! However, I think it's cheating if it's the mother you're arresting, and the infant is just bykill -- so to speak. Not REALLY 'one shot/two kills.' Try again.
