HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A prisoner released from an Israeli jail in November died overnight Monday from ongoing health complications, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said.
Ashraf Abu Threa passed away in the Augusta Victoria hospital in Jerusalem after being in a coma days before dying. He suffered from muscular dystrophy, the group said.
He had been imprisoned in al-Ramleh jail for six and a half years where he spent time in the prison clinic before being released on Nov. 15, 2012.
His funeral will take place today in Beit Awwa village, Hebron.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society said Israeli authorities were responsible for Abu Threa's death, blaming prison authorities for neglecting the medical conditions of Palestinian prisoners.
