GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- The impact of the Palestinian victory over Israel in the latest assault on Gaza was evident in the outcome of Israel's election Tuesday, according to Hamas.

Spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suffered losses because he failed to face the resistance in the mid-November deadly assault.

Abu Zuhri dismissed the election as a competition between parties committed to ignoring Palestinian rights. He said all the leading parties would continue aggression against the Palestinian people.

He added that the Palestinian people would achieve victory through national unity and strengthening the resistance.

Israel launched a week-long assault on Gaza on Nov. 14, assassinating a senior Hamas commander in the first day and about 170 Palestinians by the end of the campaign.

Palestinian armed groups responded by firing rockets deeper than ever before into Israel and near Jerusalem. The violence led to an Egyptian-negotiated ceasefire that was seen locally as a victory for Hamas. The terms required Israel to reduce restrictions on Palestinian fishing and agriculture near the Gaza-Israel border.

After seeing all that destruction in Gaza and hearing about all the deaths, mostly Hamas and Hamas-sanctioned terrorists, in Gaza caused by this latest campaign, one wonders how bad it would be if the Palestinians lost!

Gazan Arab lose?? NEVER !! We all know they always win, don't we. If they'd have won in the past, Israel would be but a faint memory.

Outlier - do you ever read newspapers? I mean newspapers from anything other than an Israeli viewpoint? If you did then you would know the number of Gazans killed and that less then one-third were "terrorists", one third children and the other third adult civilians. And your use of the word "terrorist"? Do you remember those terrorists (oh no, sorry, they are called brave freedom fighters when they are yours) who killed anyone who got in their way in 1946-9? And allowed Israel to be created?

4, sorry but I read lots of viewpoints (I'm here, aren't I?) and your statement appears inaccurate. Various reports, including some from inside Gaza, put civilian casualties from the latest "victory" at one-third, which means two-thirds of the casualties were terrorists. Civilian casualties always are regrettable, but must be considered in the cost of confrontation.
