AMMAN (Ma’an) -- President Mahmud Abbas on Sunday praised the positive atmosphere of the Jordanian parliamentary elections, according to the Jordanian al-Dustor newspaper.
Pro-government tribal candidates strengthened their grip on Jordan's parliament after Wednesday's general election, boycotted as rigged by the Muslim Brotherhood-led opposition.
"We as Palestinians are happy for our Jordanian brothers. Jordan is the twin of Palestine, and the strength of Jordan is the strength of Palestine as well. Jordanian-Palestinian relations are complementary rather than competitive," Abbas said, in comments carried by the newspaper.
"We respect the sovereignty of the Jordanian state, resolutions and all procedures," the president said.
