GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Fatah official said Thursday that President Abbas will begin consulting over the formation of a new reconciliation government after the Central Elections Commission starts work in Gaza.

Zakaria Al-Agha said the selection process for members of the cabinet, a temporary body designed to oversee the process of new elections, would start on Feb. 11.

The electoral body is also slated to start updating voter rolls on the same day.

In July 2012, Hamas suspended the CEC's work a day before it was due to begin registering voters in Gaza.

The long-embattled reconciliation deal, signed in 2011, once again ground to a halt until a renewed push earlier this month.
