JERICHO (Ma’an) -- PLO official Saeb Erekat on Friday called on the international community to implement a UN human rights report which said Israeli settlement building could constitute war crimes.

The UN fact-finding mission released its conclusions on Thursday, calling for Israel to withdraw settlers from the occupied West Bank and redress human rights violations as a result of its settlement policy.

The report also said private companies should stop working in the settlements if their work adversely affected the human rights of Palestinians, and urged member states to ensure companies respected human rights.

Erekat called the recommendations "very significant" and urged the international community to follow them by holding Israel to account.

His comments were made during separate meetings with the US and British Consul-Generals.

The former PLO negotiator reiterated Palestine's position that settlement activities must be halted before peace talks can begin.

1- Erekat surely knows, what you should know too, which is that:
- his "urging" (to which you say "bravo") will NOT lead to change,
- a UNGA resolution can NOT give 1967 borders to Palestine, and
- the World can NOT "implement UN settlements report" either !!!

2- Though Erekat's "urging" is irrelevant, Israel could and should just implement it's own unilateral solution to (Palestine is Areas A/B & Gaza),
and discontinue all ties (water, electric, etc.) with Palestine !!

@ 2), "WOOF !!!!!!!!!!!!!" (as my friend's dog would heartily say when he vigorously likes, approves and agrees with someone or someone's comments) ... Separately, whatever the hell Saeb Erekat is urging, I highly urge Saeb Erekat to go into retirement. One day he's still called a current negotiator ... the next day he's called a former negotiator. Not that it matters much anymore but calling him a retired-and-just-plain-damn-TIRED negotiator would probably be better.

a- The PLO says there were "NO NEGOTIATIONS in London", and b- Israel says there is No Palestine on the West Bank. And, c- PLO leaders can pretend forever, that a UNGA resolution, or a UNHR urging, can make Palestine a reality, but until There are Real Negotiations there will be NO Real PALESTINE !!!

1) It's quite odd that anyone who has never set foot inside a "settlement" can write such a report. 2) It is quite a simple task for the PA to put an absolute halt to any and all "settlement" construction and to assure that private companies cease to operate inside "settlements". The PA need only to pass a law making it illegal for any arab resident of the territory in question to be employed in any settlement construction, factory or businesses. No labor pool= no construction !!!!
