RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Newly-confirmed US Secretary of State John Kerry called President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday, official Palestinian Authority media reported.

Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh told Wafa news agency that the leaders discussed holding a meeting soon on the peace process with Israel.

Kerry said the US is aware of Palestine's financial crisis, and is committed to supporting peace negotiations, according to Abu Rudeineh.

The five-term US senator from Massachusetts was easily confirmed as Secretary of State by the US Senate on Tuesday. Days earlier, he said that he hoped for to renew Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

US-brokered peace talks broke down in 2010 amid mutual acrimony.

Since then Israel has accelerated construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem - land the Palestinians want for a future state - and the Palestinians have taken steps to gain greater recognition at the United Nations and its agencies.

It's time to END our regressive,suicidal,"special relationship"with our old USFOB Cold-War proxy,against USSR! It's time to CHANGE US Foreign Policy &Foreign Military Financing(FMF)toward foreign rogue-nuclear,belligerent ISRAEL!We don't want ANY treacherous Kissinger-creeps in Obama's cabinet!And no pro-Zionist Sec.of Def. wimp,who'll treat Israel likes it's a VICTIM,instead of a POWERFUL US-Made AGGRESSOR & BULLY!65yrs of Zionism's lies&deceit threatens US Nat.Security& blocks ALL M/E peace!!!

This could get interesting. The generation of congressmen that grew up being ground under the Israel lobby's boot may now find themselves in a position to dispense a little payback. Israel could find out just how much all her 'friends' have come to love her.

But will the newly-confirmed US Secretary of State John Kerry recognize the newly-confirmed State of Palestine? That is what is central to any discussion between the United States and the State of Palestine.

... and here's the part that was left out: A spokesman for the State of Palestine's media relations department was reported to have later said he overheard President Abbas commenting later, "Same damn American crap ... One damn American Secretary of State goes out and another one comes in ... and the same damn American crap goes in one ear and out the other. Why in the hell he even bothered to call is beyond me. He could have faxed me his crap instead of interrupting my dinner."

Kerry won't have much to say to Abbas of real consequence, other than a courteous greeting outlining what a peace meeting with Israel should entail. In the past Kerry has never been an advocte for a division of Jerusalem,in any form for any purpose. He is however strongly in favor of a two state solution.

Don't fall for it again, Mr. Abbas. No peace can EVER be achieved with the Israelis and Americans, especially under the patronage of Kerry the Zionist Stooge. It'll end up as more talks to establish talks while Netanyahu continues working towards his goal of murdering the 2-state solution through continued unilateral land annexation. The entire time you'll be talking with Kerry and his Israeli counterpart, the Israelis will be inventing more facts on the ground. DON'T FALL FOR IT AGAIN.
