GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Islamic Jihad may run in Palestinian National Council elections, if its conditions are met, a politburo member said Thursday.

"We are pushing toward arranging the Palestinian arena, and the most important files are the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and the Palestinian National Council elections," Shiekh Nafith Azzam told Ma'an.

"If we agree on the political program and the decision-making mechanism and the structure, this will be a strong impetus to greater unity in the Palestinian front."

Azzan said PNC elections were necessary particularly as the council represents Palestinians in Palestine and in the diaspora. "It also has nothing to do with the Oslo Accords, which we and many factions reject," he added.

The Islamic Jihad leader said the movement had previously discussed the basis of proportional representation, but a consensus had not been reached.

The PNC is the legislative body of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, which represents Palestinians in exile as well as those in the West Bank and Gaza. The parliament is presently mainly composed of appointees, and has so far excluded Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which were formed since the PLO's establishment in 1964.

The reconciliation deal between Hamas and Fatah included an agreement to reform the PLO, which has been criticized for failing to represent the whole Palestinian polity.

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine official Jamil Mezher said Tuesday that elections for the PNC would be held within six months.

Here go our partners for peace again: "It also has nothing to do with the Oslo Accords, which we and many factions reject." So not just Hamas, but IJ will be in the PA. Where does that leave the future? Looking like peace or looking like war? If you listen to IJ and Hamas leaders - their onlly path is war. Woe to my poor Palestinian neighbors for the additional suffering they will endure. But then again, maybe Hamas and IJ will lose in the elections? If there are elections, that is...

After a reconciliation, with political parties calling for the destruction of Israel (Islamic Jihad & Hamas) becoming a major part of Palestine's government:
- Israel will get rich collecting taxes for Palestine, while having every right NOT distribute them to Palestine's government, and
- The Arab & Islamic world will have to donate forever, or simply
Palestine's government will cease to exist !!!

True popular democracy means everyone has a voice &vote! It's the only way to let parties know how popular they are(or not) & what the people want/need!Especially as "old guard"dinosaurs fade,& a new vanguard enters!Democracy is the voice of the people.SO VOTE! It's YOUR RIGHT! If only we could get REAL democracy here in the USA,instead of elitist corporate dynasty,of 2 tribes, with the 'aristocracy'buying POTUS's & CEO's writing our LAWS,we could be a better USA 2,instead of being owned byCHINA!

If the plo died for a reason in the past it will most proably die in the future. We know that abbas & morsi and his friend iran will not agree to it. If palis want to move ahead so what the point of going backward?

الله أكبر يا جهاد الاسلامي No to the Oslo accords, they are unrecognizable anynmore- Israel only uses them to falsely imprison Palestinians. Israel always calls for war & constantly waging attacks on Palestine- so Palestinians' government has to be very strong & have a good army- so Islamic Jihad & Hamas are best politically. Without them Zionist Israel would run all over Palestinians & they would be wiped out by now probably.
