CAIRO (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian embassy in Egypt is providing financial support to hundreds of families fleeing the conflict in Syria, Palestinian refugees told Ma'an.

Palestinian refugee families who fled to Cairo are receiving financial stipends to enable them to rent accommodation, but many are complaining that the amount is not enough to survive.

One man, a lawyer, told Ma'an on Sunday that he received 500 Egyptian pounds ($74) and 100 pounds ($14) per child from the Palestinian Authority embassy in Cairo.

Another unidentified man said that at least 450 families fled to Cairo from Syria, with many begging to order to survive, with life more difficult in Egypt than Syria.

Many Palestinians have fled Syria, or been internally displaced, as the fighting between the Syrian army and opposition forces spread into refugee camps.
