RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Representatives from political parties and social organizations staged a sit-in strike in Ramallah on Sunday to call for an end to political divisions.
Protestors chanted slogans and waved flags in Al-Manara square, calling on Hamas and Fatah to unite.
Coordinator of the campaign, Ahmad Abdul Halim, said in a statement that the protest is part of a series of events to put popular pressure on political factions to unite.
Hamas and Fatah split into separate governments in 2007.
In May 2011, a deal was signed to reunite the West Bank and Gaza, but has yet to be implemented.
