Israel 'pays settler 1.3 million shekels' for damage to West Bank land

TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma'an) -- Israel has given a settler convicted of anti-Palestinian attacks over 1.3 million shekels in compensation for damages to Palestinian land in the West Bank, Israeli media reported Wednesday.

Menachem Livni was found guilty of perpetrating a 1983 attack in Hebron which killed three Palestinian students and wounded 33 others, and of trying to assassinate Palestinian officials He spent less than seven years in prison.

Livni lives in the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement in Hebron, and farms land in the West Bank village of Bani Naim.

Local Palestinians have attacked the land, and Livni has been awarded around 1,327,123 shekels ($360,600) in damages by the Israeli Tax Authority, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported.

Israeli soldiers protect Livni when he works on the Palestinian land, Haaretz said.

He is now suing Israel for failing to investigate his complaints to police, and seeking further payment, the report said.

Settlers come from the word settlements. Settlements are illegal and is by the International community and the UN. Therefore that makes the settlers illegal. If the settlers are illegal than most of them are criminals or have a criminal background, and probably they all are been paid to occupy the settlements and terrorize the Palestinians instead having the Army doing it. They are a defensive shield as are the settlements.

If "local Palestinians attacked the land", then the PA's Tax Authority should pay instead of Israel's Tax Authority, and the awarded 1,327,123 shekels ($360,600) in damages should come from those collecte by Israel for "Palestine".

There must be something in the water at Kiryat Arba that induces insane levels of chutzpah. This is on a par with the widow of the late Baruch Goldstein petitioning the government to investigate who killed her husband.

Interesting!Is this the same Menachem Livni terrorist thug,from the messianic"Gush Emunim"Jewish terrorist cell,that set off car bombs,killing/maiming Palestinian civilians as well as plotting with Shoshan & Etzion to BLOW UP Al Aqsa Mosque,in the 1980's to START the "Kingdom of Israel"? So,a life-sentence for a fanatical Israeli terrorist is 2 yrs(reduced )for'good behavior'(remorse).And he gets REWARDED MORE 4 further racist,terror,fanaticism? #9 - who are your "enemies" Why is Mel your enemy? Are you an Israeli citizen? If so, beware. Prisoner X has shown us in Australia what happens to one of our citizens if he offends the other country where he has dual citizenship. Abandoned by both countries.
