GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- A group in Gaza have launched a campaign calling to lower the age of eligibility to sit for the Palestinian parliament.
The group, calling itself 25-30, said the campaign aims to encourage young people to participate in politics, especially during a period of youth disillusionment after the division between the West Bank and Gaza.
It is calling for a legal amendment to move the minimum age for running for parliamentary office from 30 to 25.
Gaza's ministry of youth announced it supports the campaign.
