NABLUS (Ma’an) – Ten young Palestinian men were hurt by tear gas Friday during clashes with Israeli troops at Huwwara checkpoint south of Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Paramedics told Ma’an that dozens of young men gathered at Al-Quds (Jerusalem) street south of Nablus hurling stones at Israeli soldiers. The demonstration was part of protests against the Israeli prison service and in solidarity with prisoner Samir al-Issawi, who has been on hunger strike for months.

Witnesses said the young protesters set fire to used tires in the middle of the street before soldiers showered them with tear gas canisters hurting dozens. Palestinian ambulances were there and medics treated the victims on the spot.
