GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya on Sunday confirmed that the movement is holding indirect talks with Israel over the implementation of a ceasefire deal, but insisted that they did not amount to political negotiations.

Al-Hayya was commenting on a report on Israel's Channel 2 TV on Friday, which said Israeli and Hamas representatives had been negotiating for weeks.

The agenda of the talks include Israel permitting Egypt to open its Rafah border with Gaza to allow the entry of Qatari-donated construction materials, and the export of Gaza's agricultural products to Israel, according to the report.

Al-Hayya said the framework of the talks are solely the terms of the ceasefire deal which ended an eight-day conflict in November.

There are no contacts or meetings of a political nature, he said.

Hamas has historically opposed any negotiations with Israel, jibing the Fatah-led West Bank authorities for sticking to peace talks that have been on hold since 2010 and failed to end Israel's occupation.

Both sides should be negotiating freedom and independence for Gaza with a lifting of the siege, but a solid 50 meter fence between Israel and Gaza. No bullets or rockets in or out.

This is just propaganda crap coming before Obama makes his visit. Same as Jordan's lying BS. Obviously the MB has ordered them to play the game. It's designed to make it look as if Hamas has become a potential partner for peace. Naturally the world will say Israel should embrace them with both arms, and retire to the pre '67 armistice lines. Pretending they don't realize that both Hamas and the PA see it as just a another ploy like Oslo, in their strategy for the Judenrein state, river to sea.

It seems like sanctions are working, and "lifting of the siege" now
would only hasten the next war being provoked by Hamas rockets, and
Ending All the Oslo Agreement (until it is renegotiated), with
- NOTHING CROSSING - between Palestinian regions (Area A/B, & Gaza) and
Israel Controlled regions (Area C/E1, E. Jerusalem, & Israel),
- WOULD PROBABLY HASTEN PROGRESS TOWARDS PEACE,
and real statehood for Palestine !!
