RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Authority will pay a portion of civil servant salaries for January in two days, according to a statement by the cabinet released after its weekly session Tuesday.

According to the statement, civil servants will receive half of their monthly wage provided that the minimum payment is 2,000 shekels ($540), and the maximum is 5,000 shekels ($1,360).

Cabinet ministers discussed the public budget for 2013 and the necessity to involve all partners before approving the budget, including members of the Palestinian Legislative Council, "to secure utmost transparency and social partnership in light of the absence of supervision by the PLC as a body."
