HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli officers tortured Arafat Jaradat, a 30-year-old who died Saturday in Israeli custody, his lawyer and the Ministry of Detainee Affairs said Sunday.

Kameel Sabbagh, a lawyer at the ministry, said he was present at Jaradat's last hearing on Thursday. The Israeli judge postponed the hearing for 12 days.

"When I entered the courtroom I saw Jaradat sitting on a wooden chair in front of the judge. His back was hunched and he looked sick and fragile.

"When I sat next to him he told me that he had serious pains in his back and other parts of his body because he was being beaten up and hanged for many long hours while he was being investigated

"When Jaradat heard that the judge postponed his hearing he seemed extremely afraid and asked me if he was going to spend the time left in the cell. I replied to him that he was still in the investigation period and this is possible and that as a lawyer I couldn't do anything about his whereabouts at this time."

Sabbagh said in a statement that Jaradat's psychological state was very serious and that he informed the judge his client had been tortured. The judge ordered that Jaradat should be examined by the prison doctor but "this didn't happen," the lawyer added.

The Ministry of Detainee Affairs said Israeli interrogators used hanging techniques and sleep deprivation to torture Jaradat in al-Jalameh prison, a day before he died in Megiddo prison.

Jaradat's family, who have viewed his body, said there were traces of blood on the body. They rejected Israeli claims that he died of a heart attack.

The family said they were informed that an autopsy on Jaradat's body was complete and would be returned to Hebron on Sunday evening through the Tarqumiya crossing.

A Palestinian doctor and a legal team from the prisoners ministry were present at the autopsy.

This was a murder! The Palestinean people do not deserve the cruelties being visited upon them by the Israelis. Seeing the Israelis act as they do against the Palestineans makes me wonder if Israel has forgotten lessons of the holocaust. Hate reduces people to sad levels that can justify hdinous acts. That is what happened here!

Arafat was TORTURED TO DEATH...MURDER IN COLD BLOOD!!! Al Haq org reports that Arafat: "showed two broken ribs, blood in his nose and bruises inside his mouth."..."Autopsy confirmed...he didn't die of heart attack. Body displayed multiple signs of beating." and Arafat "died of shock. Postmortem shows clear signs of torture: beating on chest, lashes on his back, shoulders near spine.".... there should be WORLD OUTRAGE against this ZIONAZI crime!!!!

5 chutzbah points to any Zionist who cares to defend this. Hint: shout a lot about being in the 'front lines of the war on terrorism.' Accuse others of doing the same. Claim the family and lawyer are lying.

The U.S. cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the crimes commited by the Israelis on the Palestinian people. These people must be held accountable in a world criminal court.

Jaradat was arrested for the charge of " STONE THROWING" . All this torture and subsequent death is to investiagte "STONE THROWING" . You would think that Israel was trying to save 1000 people from imminent death. Israel kills people in this way to instill fear. The Palestinians are beyond the fear. As they say :" only the first blow hurts , then it becomes routine". Israel with its big tanks can never feel secure while Israel is killing others....

The American people do not know of what is going on. I have been watching mainstream media all day and nothing was mentionned about the turmoil in Palestine and this murder. Americans are busy watching Nascar and looking for tonite's OSCARS. The Politicians are busy fighting over the Sequetser and budgetary issues. This why the American foreign policy is not an issue for Americans. They believe that israel is being attacked and that they have the right to defend themselves and that the fighting.

6- Pals can "go to the Hague", but they will be told "go away", just like when they went with their Gaza war accusations, and 7- The U.S. CAN "continue to turn a blind eye", since no one really knows what happened, and even if the story is not a lie or exaggeration, it is still more of and internal matter, than a "crime against humanity".

It's not enough they steel the land and take over everything.. they are cold blooded murderers who need to stop their violent and vicious acts on palestenian people who simply want to live as comfortable as them.. Shame on you people who can tolerate such acts and pretend it did not happen. A day will come when it will be the opposite done to them..

This is a blatant attempt by Israel to stir up the Natives and get a violent response. When did Israel last invite Palestinian medical observers to a Post Mortem. First Israeli spokespersons claimed he died of a Heart Attack. Now they claim the Investigation was inconclusive but as we see they are lying. The PA should invite independent medical experts to carry out an additional PM and film it so it cannot be tampered with. Send an Invitation to Israel who of course wil refuse to attend .

Any torture is a crime against humanity. Torture ending in murder, is more than an internal affair, it's Israel's main mode of operation. I & many others in US R aware of the racist persecution &confiscation of everything Palestine-- from country, to culture;zionism has no culture. Like the USA, the artificial construct, has ignored every opening 4 good faith negotiations. In the case of Palestine, the malignancy named Israel tried to plop itself on top of Pal.nation, it has failed & must go.
