FM: Palestine must sign Rome Statute to access ICC

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Palestine cannot file complaints at the International Criminal Court until it signs the Rome Statute, the Palestinian Authority foreign minister said Sunday.

The ICC was established by the Rome Statute and Palestine must sign the treaty to access the court, Riyad al-Maliki told Ma'an.

The Palestinian leadership is prepared to sign all international conventions and treaties to allow Palestine to access all world bodies, the minister added.

Last week, the head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society said his organization was planning to complain to the ICC over the death of 30-year-old Arafat Jaradat in Israeli custody. An autopsy showed Jaradat was tortured to death, Palestinian officials said.

Regarding the upcoming visit of US President Barack Obama, al-Maliki said the trip indicated that Washington was still concerned about Palestinian affairs.

still concerned to allow Isreal to continue and US voted NO and does not want pal state and PA are again up to their useless crawling and bowing tro US afraid the moment of true interrity and honor and strenght all gone again under the US pressure and PA cowering again with Fake US support and try to deceive again the PA can join all UN bodies and sign geneva conventions and find alternate to paris agreement aand reconcile but has done nothing has paralysed legal and popular resistence SHAME!!!!

The Palestinian leadership,INCLUDING the democratically elected party of the people-HAMAS-must unite with Fatah,as NATIONALS,to sign the treaty. No BIASED brokerage is needed from USG,EU,UK etc,who've spent the last 1/2 century pretending Zionism,then Israel,were the underdog VICTIMS,instead of POWERFUL BULLY PERPETRATORS of racist war crimes.Palestinian leaders can walk the GLOBAL CONSENSUS path,for Palestine! Just fly the flag of RULE OF LAW!!

All these Articles of the Rome Statute/UN Charter/ICC apply to the political,state,military-junta-sponsored criminal policies of Zionism,in Palestine since 1935,then ISRAEL 1948 !If the ICC "cap fits",Israel should be accountable,to WEAR IT!It's time USCongressional public-servants stopped SERVING foreign Israel,DIVEST from Zionism&got back to serving our US state,because the 2 interests aren't compatible,or positivelySTRATEGIC!

SirleyS, A: Learn to punctuate. An entire paragraph with no punctuation is hard to impossible to read. B: Both Israel and the US declared that they will go for a Palestinian state. Those who do not want it are the Palestinian government. They have rejected each and every proposal put on the table by US presidents or Israeli Prime Ministers. They only agreed to was the Saudi initiative which called solving the refugee problem according to UN resolution 194 which means the destruction of Israel...

There's one major problem with signing the Rome Statute - You have to comply with the standards of justice it was created to uphold. And unless you're now saying Gaza is not a part of the Palestinian State, you have a small issue concerning people getting dragged around behind motorbikes. Not to mention your unwillingness to defend women from honour murders, and the grooming of children for suicide bombing etc, etc...In fact, come to think about it, its probably best not to go that route eh?

So sign, and prosecute these barbaric Israeli govt. What are you waiting for? You have waited for over two decades thus no reason to wait especially in the light of death of a palestinian prisoner & others on hunger strike and other apartheid treatments.

I would love to see Abbas and Co sign-up to the Rome Statute. There are over twenty years of criminal charges, ranging from embezzlement to murder, that my friends and I would be delighted to bring against him.

israel is a joke. the worst joke on the earth. Here is a criminal state, israel, which murders, tortures & steals. US, Germany&France have armed israel with nuclear weapons & methods of delivering anywhere in the world. The punch line to this joke, US is in violation of N & israels havn't signed the NPT & they insist Iran be sanctioned, attacked. Iran has complied with all NPT agreements. I'd laugh but the consequences for this world are too great. israel is the greatest threat to life on earth.
