RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- A group of Palestinian prisoners say they are ready to give up their Israeli citizenship to be released.
The prisoners wrote to the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Prisoner Affairs in Ramallah, asking to be included in negotiations for the release of Palestinian detainees.
"We believe that any political settlement that does not include us as Palestinian prisoners is like sentencing us to death," the detainees wrote.
"After all the years we spent in Israeli jails, we have the right to go back to our homes and continue our lives with our families. However, we are honored to carry the Palestinian ID, and to move to the borders of the state of Palestine," the letter continued.
According to the prisoner rights group Addameer, 185 of the 4,812 Palestinian political prisoners are from inside Israel.
