Al-Zaq condemns deportation of detainees

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Popular resistance leader Mahmoud al-Zaq on Monday condemned Israel's deportation of Ayman Sharawna to the Gaza Strip.

"We shouldn't legalize deportation even if detainees are freed from Israeli detention centers," al-Zaq said in a statement.

"We are one nation whether we are in Gaza or in the West Bank but we still refuse deportation," he added.

Israel deported Sharawna to Gaza on Sunday. He had been on hunger strike in Israeli prison since July.

Sharawna is from the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

A-Zaq called for demonstrations to protest Israeli deportations.
