RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained the brother of a man accused of killing a settler near Nablus on Thursday, the prisoners center in Ramallah reported.
Soldiers raided Muhammad al-Zaghal's house in Shweikeh village in Tulkarem, beating him before he was arrested, according to the group.
Officials at the prisoners center told Ma’an that the troops took him to al-Khdeira Hospital.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said seven Palestinians were arrested overnight but she could not confirm the arrest in the Tulkarem area.
Israeli forces on Tuesday raided the home of the suspect, Salam al-Zaghal, and several neighboring homes after the alleged attack near Zatara checkpoint south of Nablus.
Also Tuesday, Israeli forces closed down the Huwwara and Zatara checkpoints after hundreds of settlers wreaked havoc in the area, a Ma’an reporter said. They repeated racist chants and called for revenge.
Meanwhile, settler-monitoring official Ghassan Daghlas told Ma’an that settlers set fire to over seven acres of olive fields in Awarta village east of Nablus.
