EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma'an) -- Egyptian forces on Saturday seized large quantities of fuel destined to smuggled into the Gaza Strip, a security source said.

Forces seized a truck carrying diesel and detained two Egyptian smugglers, the security official told Ma'an.

Meanwhile, Egyptian officers detained two Palestinian smugglers trying to enter Egypt through tunnels from the Gaza Strip, he added.

Could they not have let them keep the diesel it is not as if it were guns and bombs. It was fuel that was necessity, perhaps for work, deliveries etc., etc.,that could have helped them so much. Other nations in the world get fuel when they need it, no problems. But it is obvious there are restrictions on the Palestinians - WHATS NEW? They will be charged for the air that they breathe next!

#1: You don't seem to understand the situation in Egypt. Fuel is subsidized and there is a tremendous shortage, along with a shortage of foreign currency. The Gazans are richer than the Egyptians (thanks to the UNRWA) and so smugglers are taking either the subsidized fuel or stealing fuel and selling it for cash in Gaza. They need the fuel at home. The fuel situation and food situation in Egypt is far, far worse than in Gaza. Half of Egypt's population must live on less than $2 a day.

#2:"richer than Egyptians(thanks to the UNRWA)..."?That's like saying the Jews were lucky that Nazi's gassed them, instead of letting them starve, you moronic prick! Whoaah! You'll be saying our US farmers are"rich",because their losses are"subsidized"by US Govt "smugglers"who profit from America's poverty, unemployment by IMPORTING cheap-foreign-swag & exporting JOBS! 90% of USA is on UNRWA/USAID rations too, lest ye selectively forget! "Oh say can you see.." the hyocrisy! Jeeez!

If Hamas would stop trying to destroy Israel and stop incitement against it, there would b no blockade on gaza. Fuel and everything else will easily enter gaza

#2 But those poor impoverished Gazans, need the fuel to cruise up and down the strip, and go to beaches. In their high end SUV, and valuable Mercedes Benz cars.

(2) USAUSA/USA As promised I checked your comments out. (1) The Egyptians appear to not have the money to buy the extra fuel that they require. (2) They also say that people are hoarding fuel and making the situation worse. (1) And Gaza as many restrictions put on it by Israel also making them short of fuel for their electricity supplies. (2) It is a catch 22 situation on both sides. It is a problem that is not going to go away unless Israel allow fuel trucks to come into Gaza.
