Israel to re-extend Gaza fishing zone to 6 miles

GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The Israeli government has decided to re-extend Gaza's fishing zone to 6 miles, after reducing it in March following a rocket attack from the coastal territory, a statement from Israel's army said Tuesday.

The decision was announced after a meeting between Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and defense minister Moshe Yaalon, who then informed the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah.

Senior Egyptian and international officials were also informed about the decision, the statement added.

In March, Israel's army announced that the fishing zone for Palestinians in Gaza would be reduced from six to three miles following a rocket attack.

The zone had been extended to 11 km as part of an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that ended an eight-day conflict between Israel and Hamas in November, in which 166 Palestinians and six Israelis were killed.

In the Oslo Accords, Israel agreed to a 20-nautical-mile fishing zone off Gaza's coast but it has imposed a 3-mile limit for several years, opening fire at fishermen who strayed further.

Israel has controlled Gaza waters since its occupation of the area in 1967, and has kept several warships stationed off the coast since 2008.

Ooooooo! How GENEROUS of Israel!Despite that INTERNATIONAL LAWS says 20 MILES! Six'crumbs'instead of the whole LEGAL 'loaf' of 20? Screw that! The waters even within 6 miles are fished out &polluted with Israel's sewage. That 20ml marine(& natural gas resource)zone belongs to Gaza/Palestine,joined to Egypt.Every fishing boat/crew in Gaza should form a LINKED WALL of boats,at 20 mls with flags, camera's,journalists,as NON-VIOLENT protest. FISH the waters God,& USA(Oslo)gave you!All else is TOKEN!

But that's not occupation because Israel says it's not occupation even though Israel does not allow anyone to enter or leave Gaza by sea. Recall that the Egyptian "blockade" of the Straits of Tiran was used by Israel as its pretext to start the 1967 attack on its neighbors. According to Israel's own logic this blockade of Gaza is an adequate justification for war.

Zionists control land sea and air. I do not normally have hatred in me, but the hateful things they do day and day out, I cannot help but hate their actions against the Palestinians. There will come a day when the land of Palestine will be returned to normal life. People will return to their homes, and rejoice in what God has done for them. You will rebuild homes. In the Hebrew bible, they think those words are for them, but they were meant for Abram's descendants through Ismael and Esau.

After we get zone 6 back. Tell Israel to prepare to be sued for using this waterway we want 80 percent of their export and import thru our water ways for the last 10 years then we put that money into the new 4 billion Palestine budget
