GAZA CITY (Ma’an) – Egypt on Thursday closed its border crossing with the Gaza Strip in both directions indefinitely due to the ongoing unrest in the country, Palestinian officials said.

Mahir Abu Sabha, director of border crossings in the Hamas-run government in Gaza, confirmed in a statement that Egypt officially informed his department that the Rafah crossing would be closed in both directions “due to bad security conditions in North Sinai district.”

The Gaza ministry of interior had announced Wednesday that all passenger registration offices were closed and all previous passenger lists were cancelled.

Since July 3, the Rafah crossing, Gaza’s only exit to the outside world, has been operating at a reduced capacity for emergency cases only.

Only holders of visas and passports from foreign countries, Egyptian citizens and Gaza patients have been allowed to leave Gaza via Rafah crossing.

Anyone jumping up and down with indignation? Or, is that indignation saved by the joo haters for Israel's border closures.

More proof that it is not Israel that is shutting off Gaza. The Egyptians have been doing it since day one and with good reason - they now realize that Hamas is helping to attack the Egyptian army and overthrow Egypt to set up an Islamic state.

Sometimes one might think that the Israelis are better friends of the Palestinian people then the Arab countries....but t,hen I guess that's stretching a point...

Come on, UN - force Israel to lift the siege - the tunnels are closed and your own experts warned you in 2010 that if the tunnels were closed, there would be a humanitarian catastrophe. THAT TIME HAS ARRIVED. No more fudging - END THE ILLEGAL SIEGE OF GAZA. Do it by sea if you have to - but DO IT. Get medical and all other essentials into Gaza NOW. Get their exports out, NOW. No more excuses.

How can a siege of Gaza be illegal when it is absolutely essential. Remember the reason for the wall? it was put there to stop the endless succession of suicide bombers that killed so many in nightclubs, streets, and shopping malls. Unfortunately it can't stop the more than 12,000 rockets that the so-called poor Gazans have sent into Israel. Poor? Ha! those rockets cost $10,000 each. The only poor part of Gaza is the people because a ruling sect, Hamas, has kept them that way to gain world pity.
