RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Medical professionals will strike on Tuesday in protest against the Palestinian Authority's failure to commit to agreements, unions said Saturday.
Nurses, lab workers, midwives and public healthcare workers, excluding doctors, will hold a sit-in outside the offices of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Ramallah on Tuesday.
Recent decisions by the PA proved it neglected the cause of 5,100 employees, said Osama al-Najjar, chairman of the federation of unions of medical professions.
"Lack of commitment to agreements approved by the government is like adding fuel to fire," al-Najjar said in a statement.
The unions are demanding the payment of hazard pay bonuses, as agreed by the previous government.
They are also demanding the PA doubles the hazard pay, and pays bonuses in line with the high cost of living.
