JENIN (Ma’an) – Israeli forces detained a Palestinian man from the northern West Bank town of Meithalun near Jenin Tuesday morning, Palestinian security sources said.
The sources told Ma’an that Khalil Muhammad Rabayaa was detained after Israeli soldiers scrutinized his ID card as he tried to cross a military checkpoint near Nablus.
An army spokeswoman did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
Separately, Israeli forces set a flying checkpoint between the northernmost West Bank villages of Silat al-Harithiya and Tinnik.
Also Tuesday, settlers damaged olive trees in private groves behind the separation wall belonging to the village of Jalbun. The fields belong to Yousif Abu al-Rub and his brothers Muhammad, Ahmad and Abdul-Rahim as well as Falih Hitawi and Mahmoud Abdul-Raziq Abu al-Rub.
Locals in Jenin-area villages accused settlers of stealing from their olive harvest Monday.
