BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces assaulted four Palestinian workers on Saturday after they attempted to cross into Jerusalem to reach their jobs, locals said.
The laborers tried to cross through a gap in a fenced area near Israel's separation wall in Dar Salah, east of Bethlehem.
The workers suffered bruising after being assaulted by Israeli forces in the area.
Othman Salah, a member of Dar Salah village council, said Palestinian workers are exposed to daily assaults and the threat of arrest by Israeli forces.
Most workers do not report assaults for fear of being blacklisted from working in Israel, Salah added.
Between 20,000 to 30,000 Palestinian workers without permits cross into Israel every year to work, according to Israeli group Kav LaOved.
