HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A group of Israeli settlers destroyed over 50 olive trees in the south Hebron hills on Thursday, locals said.

Palestinian farmer Jaber Ali Shatat told Ma'an that settlers from Susiya raided agricultural land next to the illegal settlement and damaged 50 trees.

Settlers deliberately target olive trees during the harvesting season, Shatat added.

Settlers routinely attack Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank with impunity.

Annual figures compiled by Israeli rights group Yesh Din have repeatedly shown that nine out of 10 police investigations about settler crimes fail to lead to a prosecution.

More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law. The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.

"If the olive trees knew the hands that planted them, their oil would become tears"- Mahmoud Darwish - The Zionist 'settlers' clearly have no respect for the environment & by their actions, show they either have no understanding of the historical & religious importance of the olive tree (which has significance in Judaism, Christianity & Islam) or they ignore it to satisfy their deluded perception of 'just' behaviour. These attacks need to be investigated & the perpetrators prosecuted & punished.

"Destroy","demolish","target" etc etc. These words are synonymous with Zionism. But of course, the only thing Zionism'll destroy is I-S-R-A-E-L! And the Olive trees will prevail as they always DO! Because their roots are DEEPER &more true than the pollution of Zionism. "We hold these truths to be self-evident". Alas,if only global Jewry would wise up to the danger posed to it,by its very own Nazi i.e. Zionism!

Once again Palestinians make baseless allegations. So far this year at least 4 acts blamed on "Settlers" were discovered to have been done by Arabs themselves. Jewish Law forbids harming trees so the accusations regarding trees are almost always Arabs themselves, after pruning- which by the way, takes place right now. Blindly accussing 500,000 Jews is nothing but bigotry.

Zainab #1 & Mel # 2. You Arabs made your beds and now you have to sleep in them. You screwed over your Jewish populations the same way the Germans did. Change your ways and the Jews will change theirs. Simple. Just do it.

@ 1), No, the olive trees would overflow with anointing oil upon knowing Israel again exists but curse at those (and make that oil rancid) for those terrorist Israelites who destroy them (which is-you're on the right track--against our sacred Torah Commandments). I have constantly condemned such attacks not just against olive trees but against all Palestinians and their property where they live and work and have repeatedly said the only way to stop these renegade Israelites is at (cont.)

gunpoint (or the use thereof). To (again) answer my critics that this is INconsistent with my firm belief that eventually all Palestinians must go east of that Jordan River to Jordan/Palestine (THE Palestinian nation and homeland) I say no ... it ISN'T. Our sacred Torah Commandments command us to allow the Palestinians to live in peace until such time when conditions call for their transfer or make it feasible for them to BE transferred and, in the meantime, to PROTECT them from harm (cont.)

if needed and PUNISH those who would do them harm. As I've said numerous times on these boards, our PM and the Israel Defense Forces are bullsh*tters and utterly useless in failing to stop these attacks. They could but are guilty as hell in their negligence. The IDF, only when forced to intervene because of so great an outcry, has had some (very limited) success in the past but is too afraid of the renegade Israelites to do anything meaningful and also because of the complicity of our PM.

Zainab and Mel, well said, I fail to understand the destruction of these olive groves by the very chosen ones who are tearing down, burning, bulldozing and axing these beautiful trees that God gave them...

Here we go again! All the olive trees that have been destroyed by the jews could fill the entire middle east by now. It is a 'myth' that the arabs love to recount, but if you ask the world wide observers who have to endure this blathering in rapid arab cyclng bouts, I would put my money on hooligan arab young boys who have nothing better to do than fulfill what they hear the adults in their arab world talking about. Check it out.

People play games. States or authorities do too, but Israel plays the "Game of Attack & Defend" much easier than it's Palestinian opponent, so: - If Palestinians want to continue the game, - Then if will played for a very long time !!
