UMM AL-FAHM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian man reportedly killed while fighting in Syria phoned his family on Saturday morning to tell them that he is alive and safe.
Muayyad Zaki Jum’a Aghbarria, 28, left his village of Mushayrifa in northern Israel to fight with the rebels in Syria.
His father Zaki said that his son "is alive and well, and news about his death is completely untrue."
"My son phoned the family and assured us that he is well, and he denied reports of his death in Syria," he added.
The father said that they had asked his son several personal questions to verify his identity in the course of the conversation, and that they are unequivocally certain that it is, in fact, him who called.
