HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters into a school and a kindergarten north of Hebron Monday after protestors nearby threw rocks at an Israeli patrol in the area while marking the death of Yasser Arafat nine years ago.

Palestinian protesters were throwing rocks at an Israeli military patrol passing through the Aseeda neighborhood of Beit Ummar when Israeli forces responded by firing rubber bullets and launching large numbers of tear gas grenades onto the main street of the southern West Bank city.

Zahrat al-Madain Girls' School and a nearby kindergarten were evacuated after tear gas canisters were fired by Israeli troops towards the buildings.

Spokesman of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Beit Ummar Mohammad Ayyad said that the administrations of the school and kindergarten decided to send students home to protect them from the heavy fumes of the tear gas.

A number of students suffered injuries as a result of inhaling the tear gas.

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.

These are criminal barbaric crimes that have been inflicted on the Palestinians by the Jews. People of god? Don't make me laugh they are the seed of pure evil and that is what they inflict.

The IDF knows - or should know - the area and should have been more precise with its response. No excuse for this action.

Well this is sad, but as long as the forces who even refuse to recognize Israels right to exist hide amongst their own citizens and make them targets in the conflict they created there will be sad collateral damage. But I would rather see 2 children harmed temporarily by tear gas than the deaths that over 1,000 katusha rockets launched into Israel every year or the suicide/homicide bombers do when they blow themselves up on busses or in malls.

Talmudic indoctrination has created a state of sociopaths that are a danger to the world.

Im sorry Gabriel, the action is Syria is a civil war, not occupation. One day Israelis must face up to the crimes it has and is still committing against Palestinians.
