JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Friday detained two Palestinians in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, locals and an army spokeswoman told Ma'an.

Israeli soldiers raided the houses of two men in the Ajja neighborhood of Jenin, detaining brothers Faraj Omar and Muhammad al-Sanouri, aged 35 and 21 respectively.

They also raided the houses of Maher Abed al-Aziz Qasem and Osama Sharaf Khalifa, locals said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the arrests, saying that two Palestinians in Jenin were detained due to "suspicion for involvement in illegal activity."

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
