BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A man was shot dead by Palestinian Authority police during an attempted arrest by officers east of Bethlehem on Monday.

Hasan Mubarak Abu Mheimeed was shot dead in al-Asakira village east of Bethlehem after resisting arrest, a PA police spokesman told Ma'an.

A police statement said that Abu Mheimeed was hiding out in the village and tried to run away.

Police officers shot him in the back and he was transferred to Beit Jala hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect, who was wanted for criminal offenses, was armed and tried to open fire at officers, the police spokesman added.

PA police said Abu Mheimeed has been a fugitive since 2005 after being accused of attempted murder and involvement in an armed clash between two families.

Several warrants have been issued for his arrest, including charges of impersonating a police officer, resisting arrest and opening fire at policemen.

Doing Israel's job for it? Shame on you!

Shot in the back while running away! Gosh, this sounds like Maan took a simliar story from a few days ago and simply changed the names.... I wonder if Mel, Maureen, Colin and the rest will demand an internatioanl inquiry and the arrest and trial in the ICC of the Palestinian police who shot the poor innocent guy in the back. Actually, I'm not wondering at all since I know they don't care.

Yes Brian. We demand a local inquiry for the death of this fugitive. At the same time we demand the arrest of all European racist colonial Zionists tp be put in trial in Nuremberg 2 .

When you say ''European racist colonial Zionists''. Do you mean, and are you referring to by chance. Those ‘’wily Khazar euro trash Ashkenazi, Sephardic and, Mizrahi Jewish invaders’’? Those Jewish people that are willing to defend and fight for their land. Even though the Muslims in spite of them having fifty seven predominantly Islamic countries, are unable to, and choose not to co-exist with the sole Jewish State Israel, in their midst.

Yes, they act like quislings. Paid agents for the Israeli occupation army, enforcing the rules of the ghetto they live in.

To Brian Cohen #2: 'I wonder if Mel, Maureen, Colin and the rest will demand an internatioanl inquiry..' Explain why I would do that. Offer your evidence that he wasn't wanted on a criminal charge, and that he wasn't fleeing arrest. Go on to elucidate why the internal affairs of Palestine would be any of my business. Do you hear me commenting on the rights and wrongs of organized crime in Israel and the efforts of the Israeli police to combat it? It's not my business, and I don't care.

6 ) Colin Wright / USA "It's not my business, and I don't care." - Exactly - like most western anti-Israel commentators, you probably really don't care about the Palestinians. You probably don't care about the 1200 killed in Syria. Doesn't matter if you can't blame Israel.

Brian both stories have nothing in common. 1) an UN-ARMED kid was shot in the back while walking down the street. He wasn't a criminal, wasn't carrying a weapon, & he wasn't a threat to anyone. 2) Unlike the guy in this article, the kid in Jalazun was killed by an occupying army who's soldier was doing nothing more than target practice. 3) An investigation will be conducted against the killing of this guy, but in the kid's case, no Israeli will ever be held accountable. After all, just an Arab..

To Barry #4: 'Even though the Muslims in spite of them having fifty seven predominantly Islamic countries, are unable to, and choose not to co-exist with the sole Jewish State Israel...' This is sophism. You simply make all 'the Islamic countries' into a monolith. I note you're from the UK. Would it be cool to deport you to the Philippines -- since it, like the UK, is 'a predominately Christian country'? The PALESTINIANS are from PALESTINE, and they have every right to it -- all of it.

#1: That's what states are supposed to do; arrest criminals. Sometimes someone gets killed. It is not the same when soldiers of another country go and shoot another country's citizens (#2). This guy was a murderer, and now his family (extended family from a village called Ta'amry near Bethlehem) wants to kill at least 6 police officers for this killing before even talking about anything else. It is a good thing that the Palestinian police starts to act like a police forces.

And another thing #1: The guy was wanted by Palestinians. That is why he was supposed to be arrested. What that has to do with the Israelis?

To Robby #7: ' Colin Wright / USA "It's not my business, and I don't care." - Exactly - like most western anti-Israel commentators, you probably really don't care about the Palestinians. You probably don't care about the 1200 killed in Syria. ' I care about the evil I support -- and that is Israel. If someone else's son steals a car, that's regrettable. If it is my son stealing cars, I have to act.
