BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Hundreds of mourners from the Bethlehem district on Thursday gathered for the funeral of a man who succumbed to wounds inflicted by Israeli forces nine years ago.
Despite heavy rain and snow, dozens of vehicles led a funeral march for Muin al-Atrash, from Duheisha refugee camp, who was shot by Israeli soldiers on Mar. 22, 2004.
His body was buried in Artas village near Bethlehem.
Al-Atrash died late Wednesday at al-Maqasid Hospital, where he was taken a week ago after a sudden collapse into critical condition.
Israeli forces shot al-Atrash in 2004 during a demonstration against Israel's assassination of Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmad Yasin.
Since sustaining the bullet wounds in 2004, al-Atrash had been suffering from hemiplegic migraines, leading to paralysis and weakness on one side of the body.
