GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Hamas has decided to cancel all celebrations of the Islamic movement's 26th anniversary, which were scheduled to begin Friday, an official told Ma'an.

Activity coordinator Ashraf Zayid told Ma'an Thursday that all activities related to the 26th anniversary of Hamas have been cancelled due to damages caused by the regional storm in addition to economic difficulties.

Zayid said Hamas would instead focus its efforts on providing relief services to the citizens of Gaza as the storm continues to damage homes and property throughout the Strip.

Last week Hamas announced that celebrations would be restricted to local activities due to "dire economic conditions" in the coastal Palestinian territory, but now all celebrations have been completely cancelled.

The European Union should stop funding Palestinian civil servants in the Gaza Strip because money is going to officials who do not work. 90 of the 125 employees at the National Audit Institute of Palestine said they did not work. In another sample, 40 percent of civil servants were not working.

What's wrong with that, Maureen? They take the money and use it in the Gazan economy. They buy nice cards, get their houses refurbished and renovated, hire babysitters, buy clothes and electronic equipment, and the money goes into the Palestinian economy in Gaza. Hey, some of it pays rocket builders to attack your dreaded zionist enemies too! That's what it's all about and you have never complained about it before, so why are you complaining now?

@6) southparkbear - jealousy is a terrible affliction. You must be pineing away for Yemen everyday, knowing that you'll either be flattened by a drone or worse, should you venture back there. You could try tunnelling I suppose. Moles live underground, maybe bears could adapt.
