GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Hundreds of mourners in Gaza Wednesday attended the funeral of a 3-year-old girl who was killed by Israeli forces the day before.

Hala Abu Sbeikha, who was killed by an Israeli airstrike Tuesday, was buried in al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

Hala's father carried her body to his house, where family members bid her a final farewell, then brought her to the refugee camp's cemetery amid hundreds of mourners.

Her mother told Ma'an: "I was busy teaching my children while Hala was playing in the courtyard, and suddenly a missile came and I couldn't rescue her."

"The area was quiet before the missile landed," she said.

Israel launched airstrikes across the Gaza Strip Tuesday, killing Hala and injuring her mother and brother, after an Israeli Civil Defense worker was shot dead by a Palestinian sniper at the border in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon.

Come away sweet mortal child,
take my hand & lay among the flowers wild.
Leave behind your woes & care,
step onto the rainbow fair.
Hold tight to the wings of rising hawks,
Sing eternal songs with meadowlarks!

Shame on you Israel,in your choice of leaders!

"Oh Allah...Give her a home better than her home & a family better than her family. Oh Allah, forgive those who have gone before us, our children lost (by death) & those who have preceded us in Faith" - "Oh Allah make her a precursor, a forerunner & a cause of reward" - Be patient, Allah loves those who are patient. - Allah The Almighty has said "Therefore remember Me. I will remember you. Be grateful to Me & never show Me ingratitude". "Oh you who believe, remember Allah with much remembrance.

Since Gazans have continuously blamed Israel in the deaths of children when Israel had nothing to do with it, for example, a 2 year old killed in Piilar of Defense who was killed by an errant Qassam, or another 2 year old killed a year earlier in a fall from a playground slide, forgive us if most of us pay no attention. In fact, an IAF missilestrike that didn't leave a scratch on the face and left a 2 year old's body intact? Gazans, stop pimping kids for propaganda points.

Soon, I hope Catherine, soon. Read the editorial in Haaretz today :
http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/1.565467 Tomorrow in the capital of Switzerland, Bern, there will be a national gathering at the end of the afternoon to advocate an end to the blockade and to remember the dead in Operation Cast Lead 5 years ago with candles.

@8- RD/Israel;: Some of the comments I have read regarding this unfortunate incident, including yours, only serve to confirm my own thoughts.. Humanity is at a loss, the Revised New English Bible (with Apocrypha) ed: Oxford & Cambridge U P, tells us that. Sadly the world has turned its face from the light. Each day I learn more, about inhumanity..

Strategically Israel is probably very happy with this outcome. The death of three-year-old Hala Abu Sbeikha, which could be called random revenge (or a lucky break) will radicalise G-d knows how many Palestinians who will retaliate in emotional, irrational, self-destructive ways just as the sniper who killed the Bedouin worker was retaliating for the shooting of 27-year-old Odeh Hamad, collecting scrap metal a kilometre from the fence. It just goes on and on which is clearly how Israel likes it.

(contd.) The slightest interest in de-escalation would see Israel foregoing vengeance and breaking the cycle. But it's invaluable as fuel for propaganda: Arabs are violent, genocidal and full of hate and Israelis live in constant danger, making "security" the TOP priority and it essential, NON-negotiable, that any Palestinian state is demilitarised, defenceless and bordered by the Separation Wall, NOT the '67 line...with the Jordan Valley forfeited as a "buffer zone" to secure the vulnerable

27/12/2013 03:15
(contd.) "Jewish State" from the crazed Arab hordes! So, yes, all in all, a good result for Israel for the festive season, because THESE and all the other preposterous demands are made possible by the inevitable violent reaction to provocations like the despicable killing of the martyr Hala Abu Sbeikha may her soul rest in perfect peace.

#8 "...an IAF missilestrike that didn't leave a scratch on the face and left a 2 year old's body intact? Gazans, stop pimping kids for propaganda points." Nice festive sentiments for the holiday season, Rachamim Dwek. You must be proud. I suppose there'll always be conspiracy theories. JFK killed by Mossad. 9/11 inside job. No Jews died in gas chambers. But ironically, Israel doesn't care whether they killed three-year-old Hala Abu Sbeikha or not...just as long as Palestinians think they did.

27/12/2013 03:53
(contd.) That's really what it's all about. A little girl is dead and Israel is poised to reap every possible benefit from it. Happy holiday.

Your comments that helps to spread THE TRUTH are helpful
- a "missilestrike that didn't leave a scratch", and
- "pimping kids for propaganda".

* BOTH SIDES NEED TO SIT DOWN TOGETHER, AND
* NEGOTIATE A COMPREHENSIVE PEACE AGREEMENT,
and until they do
* The World should ignore such printed half-truths & lies !!!

To Rachamim Dwek #8: 'Gazans, stop pimping kids for propaganda points.' You're the sort of person I think of when I think 'Israeli.' Sort of an intellectual poster child for Zionism. What it's all about.

To Maureen #20: '#8 Dwek Israel is already is already being judged harshly by the rest of the world, your comment only helps to sink Israel further.' This is always the case. You and I won't destroy Israel -- she destroys herself. Really, all she needs is encouragement.

To @17: '* BOTH SIDES NEED TO SIT DOWN TOGETHER, AND * NEGOTIATE A COMPREHENSIVE PEACE AGREEMENT, and until they do * The World should ignore such printed half-truths & lies !!!' There was (and for that matter, still is) a comprehensive agreement. The 1947 UN Partition Declaration. Israel accepted it -- she has yet to honor it.

Actually Colin @ 23 - Yes, Ben Gurion said the Jews accepted the UN Partition Plan, but in fact as soon as the Plan was propounded, started seizing land allocated to the Arabs. With the Brits weakly trying to stop them - unsuccessfully. And Israel has been stealing more and more land land ever since. And bleats "We want to live in peace but the Palestinians won't negotiate with us." (ie when they are not busily denying "Palestinians" ever existed!) Shameful state, this "light to all nations.
