RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- A spokesman of the bureau of President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday denied a report in Israeli media claiming that Abbas has maintained a secret channel with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for several years.

Nabil Abu Rdeina was quoted by the Palestinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa as saying there had not been any secret talks between Abbas and Israeli officials.

Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported Thursday that Netanyahu’s confidant Yitzhak Molcho has been meeting with one of Abbas' associates in London from time to time.

"This back-channel diplomacy includes an exchange of messages and ideas and is aimed at solving problems troubling both sides," the report added.

The secret channel, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, was of more significance during Netanyahu’s previous term while there were no official negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

"Both Netanyahu and Abbas kept the talks confidential in order to avoid political pressure."

After both sides resumed direct peace talks brokered by US, the daily reported, the importance of the secret channel diminished "likely prompting Netanyahu to inform some of the Israelis and Americans involved in the talks about the back channel."

The end result of any direct or indirect talks is reaching a peaceful solution that would appease both sides. The solution should include solving key issues such as: Boarders, Jerusalem, illegal settlements, Israel’s apartheid wall, the refugee problem, Palestinians unity, water supplies and others which are all factors that need addressing directly or indirectly. So what is the big deal about secret talks?

2 ) Now we KNOW it is TRUE / But is it so bad?

1- Abbas' office denies secret talks with Israel, and 2- Abbas' office denies compromise in public talks, and after 3- Abbas' office gets 100 murderers released from Israeli jails, without giving to Israel anything in talks in return, 4- Abbas will have killed Palestine's future !!!!

Mitri #1- you forgot to mention several other issues, which need to be discussed: palestinian terrorism, Israel's security, disarming and dismantling of the palestinian terrorist organizations, palestinian debt to Israel, end of all palestinian claims. And for your information whatever you called "apartheid wall" in reality is security barrier.

You are correct that "The solution should include solving key issues such as: Borders, Jerusalem, Israel’s Security Wall, the refugee problem", but ** THE TWO SIDES WILL NEVER AGREE ON ANY OF THESE ISSUES, so: 1- There will be no solution, and 2- The two entities will remain as they are today, with -a- One being a prosperous, UN member state, and -b- The other being an impoverished, UN non-member "state"/authority, with little real sovereignty or future !!!!
