CAIRO (Ma’an) – Four Egyptian officers were injured Sunday in a blast at a building housing offices of Egyptian military intelligence in al-Sharqiyya district in northern Egypt, a military source said.
The source told Ma’an that the explosion was caused by an explosive device hurled by unidentified gunmen at the offices of the military intelligence in Anshas city east of Cairo.
Locals said they saw walls falling apart.
Anshas city houses several military bases including an airbase.
Egyptian army spokesman Ahmad Muhammad Ali said in a statement that the attack was one of ongoing “terrorist attacks by armed groups against the Egyptian people, military facilities and vital targets in the state.”
Details about the attack are yet to be revealed, he added.
