BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) – Israeli forces raided Bethlehem in the southern West Bank in broad daylight Thursday and detained two Palestinian men after ransacking their homes.
Eyewitnesses told Ma’an via telephone that several Israeli military vehicles besieged home of 39-year-old Ahmad Ibrahim Ubeidallah in al-Saff neighborhood of Bethlehem before they detained him.
Ubeidallah’s wife and five children were watching as Israeli troops cuffed him and took him after they damaged the interior of the family house.
Ubeidallah had served eight years previously in Israel’s custody on charge of membership in the Islamic Jihad movement.
Separately, Israeli troops stormed Wadi Shahin neighborhood south of the Nativity Church and detained 20-year-old Sajid Nasser Salamah.
Earlier Thursday morning, Israeli forces raided the home of Muhammad Shehadah, who was murdered by undercover Israeli forces along with three others in March 2008, and blew up a barn in the courtyard.
A few days earlier, Israeli forces raided Shehadah’s house and detained his sons Shehadah and Hamdi.
An Israeli military spokeswoman did not immediately return calls.
