BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The daughter of the Palestinian ambassador to Czech Republic who died in Prague Wednesday said an explosive device in his house was planted to assassinate him.

"The information about a safety device detonating in his safe is untrue," Jamal al-Jamal's daughter told Ma'an.

"The safe has been used daily for 30 years in the headquarters of the Palestinian embassy. It is old, not modern, and has no (hi-tech) devices," Rana al-Jamal said.

She added that her father had used the safe without being harmed before heading to Egypt two months ago, a period in which the safe was used by other employees in the embassy.

"When my father returned a few days ago to the Czech embassy, the safe was moved by a Czech moving company to his house the night before the explosion" al-Jamal said. "A replacement safe was put in the embassy and the old one which was the size of a mini-fridge was taken to the ambassador's house."

She said the explosion did not come from inside the safe, but from underneath it, insisting that the incident was not an accident, but that her father was "assassinated."

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki earlier described the blast as "a work accident."

"The safe was old, and it was made in a way that if it is being opened in a wrong way, an explosive device attached to its door would explode, and this is what happened," al-Malki said.

Police in Prague said the explosion appeared to be accidental rather than a terror attack.

"The blast was the result of inexpert handling of an explosive," Prague police chief Martin Vondrasek told public radio.

Czech police also said Thursday that they had found unregistered weapons in al-Jamal's Prague home.

Where is the nearest Israeli consulate(Mossad base),in Prague?

Prompt, vigorous, and prolific protests from the Hasbara brigade are only going to make this more obvious.

Has anyone checked the safe for Mossad finger prints?

This killing was obviously designed to drive the Palestinians into breaking off negotiations with Israel without reasonable grounds. Therefore, the only intelligent thing for the PA to do is to refuse to be baited, and agree with the 'official story' -- however absurd it may be. This only changes if it turns out the Mossad screwed up (again) and in fact proof can be produced.

#6 That is what they are designed to do. USrael produce explodable bombs and drop/plant more bombs than any other country nowadays.

For sure this looks like Hamas had their fingerprints on this. Or maybe Iran..

To Mel #1: 'Where is the nearest Israeli consulate(Mossad base),in Prague?' I think the key element would be the cooperative attitude of the Czech authorities. Where else in the world would the police declare there was no reason to suspect foul play almost within minutes of the explosion?

@8: Well Maureen, if they didn't their economies would take a down turn & theyd lose too many $$$$$$$$$$$$. - Each time US & Saudi fall out, Saudi orders more arms & plains to make amends & US spends the money on aid to Israel. Israel in turn uses the money to continue justification of the theft & continual occupation of Palestinian lands. Anyone wonder why the Palestinian Amabassador's daughter claims her father was assassinated? They'll stoop to any low, look at how US hacked Chancellor Merkel

To Yosef #9: 'For sure this looks like Hamas had their fingerprints on this. Or maybe Iran..' I thought it was just a perfectly ordinary exploding safe. You need to check in with the Czech police. Work out the story line here.

To 'The signature...' #5: 'What did he do to deserve elimination?!' He was some PA apparatchnik. The idea is to provoke the PA into breaking off negotiations. Then it was all the PA's fault that there's still no peace. Where have you BEEN for the last ten years?

#13 Hi Colin, it is obvious that the Czech gov. Do not want Palestinian statehood. The Czech President has previously voiced his opposition to a Palestinian state and wishes the Czech Israel embassy be moved to Jerusalem. Czech PM has expressed a "special feeling for Israel" and will give full support to Israel at UN. (Jerusalem Post 5/18/2012)

Always cute when international occupation settlers get together - Maureen and Colin should consider meeting in England where they both come from. Maybe they could negotiate their own withdrawal from occupied Aussieland and America and give those countries back to those who really own it. And, of course, maybe they could go to Scotland Yard and take Detective 101 and learn something about how to solve crimes. Their rank amateurism sticks out like a sore settlement.

To Brain Cohen #15: 'Always cute when international occupation settlers get together - Maureen and Colin should consider meeting in England where they both come from...' The Brian's stuck...AGAIN. Could someone just format it?

Aw, Colin. You hate it when you're outed as an occupation settler, don't you. It really does suck that Americans like you Aussies like Maureen have such a miserable history to draw on. The only reason I'm "stuck" on it is because it is tue. You are indeed an occupier and you are not going to give America back to its rightful owners. Clearly you believe there's a statute of limitations when "occupation" becomes "legal". Who am I to argue with you over that?
