BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces claimed they foiled an attack against the Israeli settlement of Migdal Oz south of Bethlehem on Saturday.

An Israeli radio station quoted Israeli forces as saying that four Palestinians were detained in a vehicle near the settlement Saturday night.

According to the report, knives and arms were found in the vehicle, and the Palestinians were taken for interrogation.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was unfamiliar with the incident.

More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
