BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A decision by the largest pension fund management company in the Netherlands to withdraw all investments from Israel's five largest banks "made Israel realize that it isn't above the law," a PLO official said Wednesday.

Executive committee member Hanan Ashrawi told Ma'an that the Dutch decision was influenced by the European Union's boycott of Israeli settlements, which the EU views as illegal.

Ashrawi said she was glad that civil society organizations and government institutions in Europe had begun to take practical measures, instead of merely releasing condemnation statements as in the past.

The Dutch pension fund management company PGGM withdrew its funds from Israel's five largest banks on Jan. 1, according to Israeli media.

Haaretz reported that the company's investments in Israeli banks only amount to "a few tens of millions of euros," but that its decision threatens to damage the banks' image, influencing other European companies to take similar action.

Another straw. Israel has now reached the point Apartheid South Africa had by the early 1980's.

I am very pleased by PGGM's decision. British pension funds apparently will be taking similar steps soon. I am a Dutch citizen living and working in the UK. I live in the satisfying knowledge that my retirement pension, sitting both in the PGGM and in British pension funds, will play its tiny role in the BDS movement. Drip, drip, drip.... Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions... It is like Chinese torture.

The rest of Europe needs to follow suit. Starting with Cyprus,Greece,Germany,France etc.Germany can STOP delivering free gifts)(incld)Dolphin-class nuke-fitted subs too,as part of its compensation to Jews. Stop all checks until Zionism stops its racist apartheid.Israel has a MORAL obligation to NOT treat others as they were treated.Stop the checks Obama, until Israel proves it's WORTHY of our support,by ENDING 67yrs of occupation, ethnic cleansing.land-theft,war crimes &human rights abuses.BDS!

To Mel #3: 'Starting with Cyprus,Greece,Germany,France etc.Germany can STOP delivering free gifts)(incld)Dolphin-class nuke-fitted subs too,as part of its compensation to Jews. ' Germany can just give compensation to Jews THAT AREN'T IN ISRAEL. The idea wasn't to give Jews money so that they could be Nazis too.

Israel can no longer mask itself with deception as the true nature of the beast is being exposed.

This hypocritical stance by Holland has not prevented the Dutch from buying Israeli arms and weapons.

...and more substantially. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/minister-lack-peace-will-hurt-israeli-economy The great thing about this -- aside from the direct effect -- it that as Europe comes to boycott Israel completely, it will become increasingly hard to preserve the casual assumption in the US that Israel is one of the good guys. Americans are going to notice, they're going to wonder, and trying to claim all of Europe is 'anti-semitic' just isn't going to wash.

What fools. Israel is the #3 Arms Exporter on the planet and its economy has the highest ratio of any nation in existence and yet mental midgets are getting their knickers wet over 30 million €? Tell you what, pull out your Pentium CPU, dete your Microsfot Windows and Office and stop using Googles search engine because Israel has a chunk of the patents. Wacking off over a Dutch pension fund, pathetic.
