BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli media reported that two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel on Monday during the funeral of former Israeli leader Ariel Sharon near the border.

A Ynet report said that there were no injuries or damage as a result of the rockets, which landed in an open area near the border fence.

The report added that Israeli forces were not "planning to respond."

The rockets came towards the end of Sharon's funeral, which took place at his ranch near Sderot in southern Israel.

Sharon died on Saturday after eight years in a coma.

Sharon is remembered in the wider Middle East as leading Israel's devastating 1982 invasion of Lebanon, which killed up to 20,000 people, and for presiding over the massacre of around 3,000 Palestinian refugees in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut.

Just like "Israel" now Hamas is shooting at a funeral. The little difference is, "Israel" always like to shoot at the funeral, Hamas didn't, they shoot at the dessert. (If they really fired rockets, you never know if "Israels" story is correct.)

Again, Hamas not wanting to escalate with Israel. Idiots!

Please get your facts correct, though I doubt you will publish this...Sharon DID NOT preside over any massacre. He should have known about it and then prevented it. That is a whole other issue. For this publication to perpetuate lies is a disgrace. What about the truth withdrew Israel out of Gaza unilaterally in 2005.Yet some 8000 rockets since that date.He destroyed the Jewish villages of Gush Katif. The man who uprooted the Israeli town of Yamit in Sinai

Given the appalling history of the genocidal practices that Israel appears to engage in, coupled with the closure of the tunnels as well as Netenyahu's seemingly complete inability to speak truth, I doubt very much whether there have been any rockets coming out of Gaza...
