QALQILIYA (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces stormed several neighborhoods in the northern West Bank town of Azzun east of Qalqiliya and detained 13 young Palestinian men in a raid that lasted more than three hours overnight on Tuesday.

Locals told Ma'an that large numbers of military vehicles raided the town around 2 a.m. and left around 5 a.m., after they had forcibly entered numerous houses in the village.

The detainees were identified as Muath Bilal Sweidan, 20, Ahmad Hasan Salamah, 22, Mahmoud Hasan Salamah, 21, Muhammad Ahmad Othman Radwan, 22, Mahmoud Adam Badwan, 22, Muhammad Rashid Radwan, 24, Zakariyya Abdul-Hadi Sweidan, 22, Ismail Mufid Radwan, 19, Qusay Walid Radwan, 22, Ahmad Yousif Salamah, 22, Udayy Hamzah Hussein, 22, Abdul-Aziz Shahir Salim, 22, and Waddah Shbeita, 19 years old.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said that 10 people had been detained in the raids for "involvement in illegal activities."

Locals in Azzun told Ma'an that Israeli forces have been raiding their town on a nearly daily basis under the pretext that young men from the town throw rocks at settler vehicles near the town.

Azzun is surrounded on all sides by areas under Israeli military control and an Israeli settlement bloc sits directly to the south.

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
