WASHINGTON (AFP) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should publicly disavow withering comments made by his defense minister criticizing top US diplomat John Kerry, a State Department official said Tuesday.

"We expect the prime minister to put this right by expressing publicly his disagreement with the statements against Secretary Kerry," the official told AFP, after Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon accused the US secretary of state of an "incomprehensible obsession" with the peace process.
