EL-ARISH (Ma'an) -- Egyptian security forces responsible with monitoring the border with Israel on Sunday detained 11 African migrants trying to enter Israel without documents through its border with the Sinai Peninsula.

An Egyptian security source told a Ma'an reporter in El-Arish that six young men and women from Eritrea and five from Ethiopia were detained near the Israeli border fence.

The migrants admitted during interrogation that they were planning to cross into Israel in order to look for work, and that they had paid human traffickers 2000 dollars to help them cross into Israel.
